Benneckenstein

Welcome to UP in the HARZ

Benneckenstein

Idyllic location in the border triangle

In the upper Rappbode valley, 540 - 560 m above sea level, the recreational and winter sports resort of Benneckenstein is picturesquely situated between meadows, valleys and forests, right on the border with Lower Saxony and Thuringia. The four-season paradise offers its guests an extensive network of hiking trails with nature and adventure trails, medicinal herb trails and mountain meadow nature trails.

Benneckenstein is also worth a visit as a winter sports resort. Tobogganing, skiing and ski jumping have always been at home here. Whether you are a vacationing family or an ambitious athlete, the extensive network of trails around Benneckenstein leaves nothing to be desired for active recreation.
Or would you prefer to take the railroad of the Harzer Schmalspurbahn to the Brocken mountain, go on a horse-drawn sleigh or carriage ride or visit the Ostdeutsche Fahrzeugmuseum first?

Waldbühne Benneckenstein

The forest stage in Benneckenstein lay dormant for many years. In 2013, the Kulturrevier Harz association was founded. Their aim was to bring the idyllic forest stage back to life and breathe new life into it.

They achieved this with THEATERNATUR.
Every year in the summer months, THEATERNATUR offers a top-class cultural program with the Festival of Performing Arts.
