Climatic health resort on a high plateau in the middle of the Harz Nature Park

A widely ramified system of hiking trails, including the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg, nature trails and the Köhlerweg, make it possibly to reach many sights and excursion destinations in the area such as the Harzköhlerei Stemberghaus, the western town Pullman City Harz or the observation tower Carlshaus on foot.

The Harzer Schmalspurbahn can be used daily from Hasselfelde to the Brocken mountain or to the valley Selketal.

Our forest lake pool with diving tower, volleyball court and a large lawn for sunbathing invites you toswim and relax in summer.

The “open” St. Antonius Church is visible from all entrances to the city. Visit the Blumenau Museum, the Heimatstube or events with tradition and craftsmanship. Fishing, horse riding, archery or ballooning.

In winter the loipes are groomed for cross-country skiers, but bob running and winter hiking are also possible – here UP IN THE HARZ.

Harzköhlerei

Dusky Köthen, flickering fires and steaming kilns - the Harzköhlerei is one of the last charcoal plants that produces up to 50 tons of charcoal in a traditional way every year. Visit the charcoal burner museum, the charcoal burner shop or the cozy and rustic charcoal burner hut with many events.

The chemist and emigrant Hermann Blumenau is without a doubt one of the best-known personalities in the Harz town of Hasselfelde. His life and work in pictures and text has been put together with loving attention to detail in the Blumenau Museum in the "Haus des Gastes" in Hasselfelde.

The church St. Anthony is a three-nave Gothic basilica. The two aisles and their arcades are quite high and the buttresses are only slightly prominent. The side aisles have large and bright ogival windows.
