Susenburg
A Harz village away from the hustle and bustle directly at the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg
Originally built in the 1950s as a workers’ settlement of the Harzer Kalkwerke, the place was named after the former Burg Susenburg.
Today Susenburg is a small “hidden” village away from the hustle and bustle, not far from the cave village of Rübeland.Directly at the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg, Susenburg offers pure peace and relaxtion. It is not uncommon for walkers or hikers to encounter forest animals.
The former namesake, the castle ruin “Susenburg” is only a few minutes’ walk away. There is not much to see of the castle, only a few steps are still recognizable. It was on a spur above the river Bode. Today you will find a worthwhile lookout point with a rest area here. An ideal place to linger, take a deep breath and relax and let your gaze wander.
The small Harz village is the perfect place to be very close to nature UP IN THE HARZ. The hosts warmly welcome you.
